Not the usual source for a politics blog ... I'm reading "The Jane Austen Book Club" by Karen Joy Fowler, and came across this comment from one of the characters about her first husband who was a politician. Seems to be a good thing to keep in mind when the next (and every) election rolls around ...
No one with real integrity tries to sell their integrity to you. People with real integrity hardly notice they have it. You see a campaign that focuses on character, rectitude, probity, and that's exactly when you should start asking yourself, What's this guy trying to hide?
